UX/UI Designer
The story of how I contributed to the development of UX-research in b2b at Oasis. After improving my upgraded my skills in Product Designer courses at the British Higher School of Design, I decided for the urgent need to develop UX research in the company where I work. I understood that this would give us a competitive advantage among b2b companies in the business souvenir environment. To start the process of creating a UX department, I discussed my ideas with the head of the IT department and received approval.
For the company, the concept of UX research was new, and I had to approach this issue to get the desired result carefully.
Based on my knowledge of UX research, I realized that first, I need to find respondents among our clients. To resolve this issue, I turned to the head of the sales department. I asked for an opportunity to conduct interviews and usability testing for our experienced users, newbies and those who are critical of our site.
I was assigned to one of the sales managers I was supposed to accompany during road presentations of new products. I prepared interview questions and small assignments organized by topic in advance. Here are some of these assignments and questions:
- Do you often make orders with an application?
- Please, create an application on several areas of the T-shirt.
- How often do you add items from your cart to samples, favourites or presentations?
- Prioritize the importance of elements on the main page of your account.
- Do you use the site more often from your phone or computer?
- Do you pay attention to the Hit, Sale or New labels and do they encourage you to choose the direction of their products?
- Can you extend the period of the reserve of goods?
- How do you usually add a product to a presentation?
And many other questions and tasks.
I had two stages of UX research, each of which lasted two weeks. After the first stage, I adjusted the questions and assignments based on the first stage results.
After collecting all the material, I analyzed and summarized the interview results and usability tests into a single table on a stickerboard. Since many questions consistently followed the user’s path, I compiled a CJM and identified the most critical flaws of the site. Based on the identified problems, I created tasks for the web development department and controlled the entire process until the very release. After updating the site, I received feedback from users with gratitude for improving the site.
Based on all the work done and the results obtained, I made a presentation for the company’s management. At the next board of directors, it was decided to create a UX research division and appoint me to a leading position in this division.
